Ohio Lace Cookies; Lace Cookies with a Twist
An interesting twist on this simple favorite, the Ohio Lace Cookie, makes this bakery favorite a fun addition to your cookie making skills. It is said that many years ago in Sandusky Bay Ohio, a bakery wanted a really simple lace cookie to make for its clients. Later the bakery became a part of the Cedar Point Amusement Park, and the Ohio Lace Cookies became ledged to tourists from all over America and around the world!
Ingredients are easy and listed here:
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup pecans, chopped
1 cup flaked coconut
½ cup light corn syrup
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Line several baking sheets with aluminum foil.
In large bowl, stir together flour, nuts and coconut; set aside.
In medium saucepan, combine corn syrup, brown sugar and butter.
Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat; blend in flour mixture and vanilla.
Drop by teaspoonful’s about 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set, lace effect is automatic.
Cool 3-4 minutes on wire rack.
